The Divisional Commissioner for the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, announced the ongoing distribution of food rations to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centers. This initiative is part of the response to recent adverse weather conditions, and efforts are focused on locations in Nadi, including Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.

Commissioner Lewaqai explained that in accordance with established guidelines, food rations are provided to evacuees 48 hours after their evacuation. The teams on the ground are currently preparing food packages for these families, with the goal of completing the distribution by the end of the day.

Furthermore, Commissioner Lewaqai highlighted that the emergency operations centers will continue to operate, as forecasts suggest that rainfall will persist throughout the weekend. This proactive approach is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected.

In a context of ongoing challenges, the timely distribution of food aid demonstrates a commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. It is hopeful to see organized efforts in place, ensuring that families have access to essential resources during difficult times.
