The Divisional Commissioner for the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, announced that the distribution of food rations is currently underway for 61 families residing in evacuation centers. Efforts are primarily focused in Nadi, specifically at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.

Commissioner Lewaqai stated that the guidelines dictate that food rations are supplied to evacuees within 48 hours of their evacuation. The teams are busy preparing the food packages for these families and aim to complete the distribution process today.

As rainfall is anticipated to persist over the weekend, Commissioner Lewaqai reassured the public that emergency operations centers will continue to remain active to address any further needs.

This ongoing support for affected families showcases the dedication of local authorities in times of crisis, emphasizing community resilience and care in the face of adversity. The targeted food distribution is a vital step in ensuring that these families have access to necessary resources during this challenging time.

By working together, communities can navigate through difficult circumstances and emerge stronger.
