Foama Seru’s Opening Day Win Sparks Army Pride in Sukuna Bowl Boxing

ARMY boxer Foama Seru clinched a significant victory on the opening day of the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl boxing competition, overcoming Police’s Fenton Thagard at the Police Academy in Nasova. The match ended prematurely in the second round when the referee determined Thagard could not continue, securing Seru’s win.

Army’s head coach, Alfred Ledua, expressed pride in his team’s performance on this inaugural day of the competition. He highlighted the dedication and commitment the boxers demonstrated, emphasizing that hard work is more crucial than talent. “It is a great start to the competition; both teams performed admirably. We set our targets for day one, and we achieved them,” Ledua remarked.

Acknowledging the strength of the defending champions, Police, he remained confident in his team’s potential. Ledua noted the importance of reviewing their performances to rectify mistakes for the upcoming matches. He stated, “Police is a tough side with more experienced boxers, but we came to compete and will return even stronger for the finals.”

He thanked his boxers for their diligent preparation leading up to the tournament and encouraged them to continue their hard work as they aim for victory in the subsequent matches. “We are hopeful for the best outcomes in day two and three,” Ledua added.

The boxing competition continues today, promising an exciting finish as the teams vie for top honors. With spirited performances on display, this event not only showcases the athleticism and skill of the competitors but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and community pride among the participants and their supporters.
