Fiji National University (FNU) celebrated the commencement of its three-day December graduation ceremony at the Vodafone Arena, honoring hundreds of graduates, including four doctoral candidates, marking a significant milestone for the institution. This event is notable as it is the university’s first December graduation ceremony to feature PhD graduations.
The doctoral graduates hailed from various faculties, including Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies; Engineering & Technical Vocational Education; and Humanities, Education & Law. Their achievements underscore the university’s growing emphasis on research and its commitment to fostering local expertise in various fields.
During the celebration, former sevens-rugby legend Waisale Serevi shared an inspiring message, reminding the graduates that “education is not only what you know, it is who you become.” He encouraged them to blend modern learning with traditional knowledge as they confront the dynamics of a rapidly evolving world.
FNU’s vice-chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, expressed immense pride and joy in witnessing the graduates complete their academic endeavors. She highlighted that such achievements play a crucial role in strengthening Fiji’s human capital, which is essential for the nation’s development.
