Over 20,000 individuals participated in the Fiji National University (FNU) Open Day across four campuses, marking the highest attendance in the event’s history. The Open Day, held at the Naduna, Namaka, Natabua, and Nasinu campuses on October 3 and 4, was a tremendous success, with the Nasinu campus alone attracting 10,000 visitors on its first day.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the event possible. She noted, “We had a wonderful turnout, with not just school students, but also families joining in, especially on the second day. It was great to see parents engaging with lecturers and students about future opportunities for their children.”

This year’s Open Day served as a platform for students and their families to explore the various academic programs available at the university. The event included participation from eight special schools and two kindergartens, highlighting the growing interest in early exposure to higher education pathways.

“Parents and students had the chance to gain firsthand insights into campus life and the various courses FNU offers,” Nabobo-Baba remarked. “The strong turnout reflects the increasing interest from schools and former students in furthering their education with us.”

For families like that of Jone Ravuikadavu, who attended the second day with his three daughters, the event proved to be a valuable experience. “Even though my children are still in primary school, this Open Day gave them early exposure to hands-on courses. They especially loved the live animal display at the College of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry booth,” Ravuikadavu shared.

With a diverse array of activities and booths, the FNU Open Day catered to attendees of all ages and interests, ensuring they departed with a clearer understanding of their educational options.
