Fiji National University (FNU) has partnered with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for its 2024 Open Day, promoting the theme “Dream It, Weave It, Achieve It.” The event, set to take place at the Nasinu Campus, will feature interactions with notable Fijian Drua players including Philip Baselala, Simione Kuruvoli, and the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s Player of the Year, Vani Arei.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the athletes’ experiences and the paths they took to succeed. FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, emphasized that the event would enable participants to connect with the Drua team and witness how aspirations can be realized.
“The Drua players have demonstrated that with effort, collaboration, and resilience, no challenge is insurmountable. They motivate Fijians to chase their dreams and confront obstacles,” she stated. “Just as the Drua have skillfully united their abilities on the rugby field, FNU brings together knowledge, skills, and opportunities to help our students reach their full potential.”
The Open Day will also feature guest speakers, including Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans and acclaimed Strength and Conditioning Coach Naca Cawanibuka, who will provide insights into the team’s journey on Friday, October 4.
