The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is actively developing a new medical insurance scheme aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its members. This strategic initiative is designed to address healthcare needs effectively.

FNPF’s CEO, Viliame Vodonaivalu, confirmed that the scheme is currently under development and will adhere to all regulatory and technical requirements prior to its official launch. He stressed that this medical insurance offering is part of the Fund’s broader mission to provide valuable products that could enhance life for its members.

The medical insurance scheme will be available to members, although specific eligibility criteria will be published once the design is finalized. Vodonaivalu mentioned the importance of enabling members to access quality healthcare, especially at the tertiary level.

While the initiative focuses primarily on current members, there are plans to potentially offer similar benefits to pensioners in the future. In November 2024, FNPF announced a call for expressions of interest for the Members Medical Insurance policy, and the response has reportedly been positive, with intentions to collaborate with a successful bidder once the process is complete.

This new medical insurance scheme is set to significantly bolster healthcare support, further broadening the Fund’s offerings to cater to the varied needs of its member base.

In summary, the introduction of this medical insurance scheme represents a forward-thinking approach by FNPF, indicating a commitment to improving healthcare access among its members. This initiative not only strengthens FNPF’s mission but also enhances the overall wellbeing of the community it serves, making the future look promising for those relying on the Fund’s support.
