The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is currently working on a new medical insurance scheme aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its members. This initiative is part of the Fund’s broader strategy to provide products that cater to the healthcare needs of its membership.
FNPF’s CEO, Viliame Vodonaivalu, has confirmed that this scheme is still in development, with efforts being made to ensure it complies with all regulatory and technical requirements before its official launch. He emphasized that the medical insurance scheme aligns with the Fund’s goal of offering relevant products that contribute positively to the lives of its members.
Details regarding eligibility criteria will be shared once the design of the product is finalized. Vodonaivalu mentioned that the scheme aims to improve members’ access to quality healthcare, particularly at the tertiary level. Although primarily intended for existing members, there is a possibility that the scheme could also extend to pensioners in the future.
In November 2024, the FNPF issued an expression of interest (EOI) for a Members Medical Insurance policy, which closed at the end of December. The response has been encouraging, and the Fund is set to engage with the successful bidder once the EOI processes are completed.
Once launched, this medical insurance scheme is expected to significantly bolster the healthcare support available to FNPF members, thereby meeting the varied needs of its diverse membership base.
This initiative reflects a positive step towards enhancing the welfare of FNPF members, providing them with vital healthcare options that can lead to a healthier community overall. It’s encouraging to see organizations like FNPF take proactive measures in addressing the wellbeing of their members, fostering a sense of security and support for the future.
