The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is actively developing a new medical insurance scheme, aiming to enhance the quality of life for its members. This initiative is a part of FNPF’s broader strategic goal to provide products that meet healthcare needs effectively.
According to FNPF’s chief executive officer, Viliame Vodonaivalu, the scheme is in progress and is being designed to comply with all necessary regulatory and technical standards prior to its official launch. “The medical insurance scheme is part of the Fund’s strategic direction to provide members with relevant products that contribute to improving their quality of life,” he explained in response to inquiries.
While the scheme is primarily aimed at current members, Vodonaivalu noted that there is potential for extending similar benefits to pensioners in the future. The Fund is currently assessing various options regarding the product’s design, with an emphasis on enabling access to quality healthcare, especially at higher levels of medical care.
In November 2024, FNPF sought expressions of interest for the Members Medical Insurance policy, with submissions closing at the end of December. The positive response has led the Fund to work towards engaging the successful bidders once the review process is concluded.
Once launched, this medical insurance scheme is expected to significantly enhance healthcare access and support for FNPF members, thereby strengthening the Fund’s offerings to its diverse membership base.
