The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is currently developing a new medical insurance scheme that aims to enhance the quality of life for its members. This initiative is part of the organization’s broader strategy to offer products that cater to healthcare needs.
FNPF’s chief executive officer, Viliame Vodonaivalu, confirmed that the scheme is still in progress, emphasizing the Fund’s commitment to meeting all regulatory and technical standards prior to its launch. According to Vodonaivalu, this medical insurance scheme will be available to members with specific eligibility criteria to be outlined once the design is finalized.
In his comments, Vodonaivalu highlighted the importance of ensuring members have access to quality healthcare, especially at the tertiary level. Notably, while the scheme is initially intended for current FNPF members, there are plans to potentially extend similar healthcare opportunities to pensioners in the future.
In November 2024, FNPF issued an expression of interest (EOI) for the Members Medical Insurance policy, with applications accepted until the end of December. The response to this call has been positive, and the Fund is set to engage with the selected bidder once the EOI processes are finalized.
The implementation of this medical insurance scheme promises to provide substantial healthcare support to FNPF members, further diversifying the services the Fund offers to meet the varying needs of its member base.
This initiative is a hopeful development for FNPF members, reflecting a commitment to improving healthcare access and quality within the community. By addressing such critical needs, the FNPF is taking significant steps towards enhancing the well-being of its members, a move that could lead to a healthier and more secure future for many.
