FMF Foods Limited has signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with the Fiji Football Association for the Inter-District Championship (IDC). The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but the president of Fiji FA, Rajesh Patel, has labelled it significant.
The announcement was made at a press conference at FMF’s headquarters in Suva. FMF Group Manager Operations, Jimi Taniela, articulated the sponsorship aims to advance community engagement, promote health and wellness, and foster local talent development.
Taniela also stated that sponsoring the IDC, a prestigious football event in Fiji, would enhance visibility for FMF’s brands.
The IDC, which first kicked off in 1938 and features 22 district teams, has been hailed by Patel as the country’s largest football tournament. He further indicated that this sponsorship marks a historical moment for FMF in supporting the 86-year-old tournament.
The IDC 2022 will take place from October 15-20 at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
