Flying Fijians Unite with Community: A Heartwarming Visit Before the Big Match!

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians team recently engaged with the local community in Sikituru village, Nadi, with support from sponsors FIJI Water and Fiji Airways. During their visit on Tuesday, the team received a warm welcome featuring a traditional Fijian lovo.

Head coach Mick Byrne expressed his delight about the experience. “It was awesome to go to Sikituru village,” he noted, adding that the players enjoyed the local cuisine and appreciated returning to the village. He remarked on the joy seen in the children’s faces, which made the visit special for everyone involved.

Team captain Tevita Ikanivere also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to interact with the grassroots community. “I want to thank FIJI Water and Fiji Airways for providing us this opportunity, along with the coaching staff,” he said. Ikanivere highlighted the joy of seeing many children during their school holidays and praised the hospitality of the villagers for preparing a lovely lovo for the team.

As the Flying Fijians prepare for their upcoming match against Tonga in the Pacific Nations Cup, the team seeks a spot in the semi-finals of the competition, with the match scheduled for 3 PM next Friday. Fiji is the defending champion of the tournament.
