The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have risen to 9th place in the World Rugby rankings after a remarkable victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final. Head coach Mick Byrne highlighted the significance of the tournament in nurturing the future of Fijian rugby talent.
Byrne stated, “It’s a great opportunity for us in the PNC to select a good bunch of young players.” He also recognized the role of experienced players during last year’s World Cup while suggesting potential changes in the team.
He remarked, “Over the next few years, some of those players will be replaced, and the sooner we can get the younger ones into the test arena, the better it is for the future of the team and for Fiji Rugby.” This victory not only reinforces Fiji’s capabilities but also showcases the promising prospects of many squad members who are at the beginning of their professional rugby careers.
