In an innovative approach to the concept of home-field advantage, the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has announced an exciting July schedule for the inaugural Nations Championship. The FIJI Water Flying Fijians will host three rugby giants—Wales, England, and Scotland—in a historic series that will unfold entirely within the Northern Hemisphere.

Though these encounters are considered “home” games for Fiji, the Flying Fijians will showcase their celebrated playing style right at the homes of their opponents, utilizing notable stadiums throughout the UK as their venues. The series will kick off on July 4, when Fiji takes on Wales at Cardiff City Stadium. The match promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with anticipation for a full house at the stadium, which accommodates 32,500 fans.

Following this, on July 11, Fiji will face England at Hill Dickinson Stadium, a significant event that Chairman John Sanday described as a historic match for the team. The final fixture will see the Flying Fijians compete against Scotland on July 18 at the iconic Murrayfield Stadium, a venue that has witnessed more than four decades of fierce competition between the two nations.

Sanday expressed excitement about this pivotal moment in the history of the Flying Fijians, highlighting the importance of these fixtures for the team’s development. He noted that competing against top-tier teams in high-pressure settings will provide invaluable experience for the squad.

This proactive strategy not only reimagines the traditional definitions of home advantage but also sets the stage for greater visibility and engagement for Fijian rugby on a world stage. The Flying Fijians are poised to make a significant impact this July, showcasing their talent while engaging in memorable contests against storied rugby nations.
