Flying Fijians Set for Epic Showdown Against Samoa in PNC Opener

The Flying Fijians are focusing on improving their defence and discipline as they prepare to face Samoa in the Pacific Nations Cup opener today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Team captain Tevita Ikanivere underscored the importance of staying alert throughout the match.

“There is a saying that goes, we’re only good enough if we do the work,” the 24-year-old hooker stated. Ikanivere has also urged rugby fans to come out and support the revamped Flying Fijians squad.

“I’m ready for the challenge, and I thank God for choosing me as captain to carry out his work on earth,” he added. The captain anticipates a challenging match against the Samoans but emphasized the strength of the team’s leadership, which makes his role easier both on and off the field.

After completing two intense training sessions, Ikanivere expressed confidence in the team’s aim to secure a victory in their first PNC match. The game is set to kick off at 6 PM.
