The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are set for an exciting semi-final match against the USA in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup this Saturday. The game will kick off at 10:05 PM Fiji time at the Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.
The Flying Fijians, who finished as Pool A champions, will take on the USA, the runners-up from Pool B. In the other semi-final, Japan, which topped Pool B, will face Samoa the following day, September 15, at 6:05 PM at the same location.
The team recently returned to Nadi after a strong victory over Tonga. Although there are no significant injury concerns among the players, centre Adrea Cocagi will miss the next four games due to a red card received during the match against Tonga.
Coach Mick Byrne expressed his optimism about the team’s abilities, saying after the game in Nuku’alofa, “I don’t know whether there’s a ceiling (regarding growth) in this squad as they’re a very talented team.”
Additionally, Tonga and Canada will compete for fifth place on September 14 at 7 PM at the same stadium.
