Waisea Nayacalevu, the captain of the Flying Fijians for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has expressed concern that they have not received any communication from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) amid ongoing allegations of mismanagement within the organization that have come to light over the past week.

During a live podcast with social media blogger Lesi Vanuavou, Nayacalevu mentioned that he had reached out to Peter Mazey, the Chairman of the Fiji Rugby Union Trust Board. Although Mazey initially agreed to a meeting with senior players and the FRU, he became unavailable at the last minute, and no further outreach has been made since then.

Nayacalevu emphasized the importance of addressing these issues, stating, “We need to talk and iron out the issues. It is time for a clean up and especially accountability.” Additionally, he noted that emails have been sent to the FRU regarding unpaid salaries for matches played against the Barbarians, Georgia, and the All Blacks earlier this year.
