The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are preparing for an exciting semi-final match against the USA in the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup this Saturday. The game is set to kick off at 10:05 PM Fiji time at the Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.
The Flying Fijians, who finished as leaders of Pool A, will take on the USA, who were the runners-up in Pool B. Japan, the top team in Pool B, will face Samoa in the other semi-final the following day, September 15th, at 6:05 PM Fiji time at the same venue.
The Flying Fijians returned to Nadi over the weekend after a strong performance against Tonga and resumed training today. While there have been no significant injury reports, center Adrea Cocagi will miss the next four games due to a red card issued during the Tonga match.
Coach Mick Byrne shared his confidence in the team’s abilities, noting after the match in Nuku’alofa, “I don’t know whether there’s a ceiling (referring to growth) in this squad as they’re a very talented team.”
In the meantime, Tonga and Canada will compete for fifth place on September 14th at 7:00 PM Fiji time, also at Chichibu Memorial Stadium.
