Flying Fijians Ready to Challenge Samoa in PNC Opener

Defence and discipline are crucial factors for the Flying Fijians as they prepare for their Pacific Nations Cup opening match against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This sentiment was expressed by the team’s captain, Tevita Ikanivere, who emphasized the need for consistent focus throughout the game.

The 24-year-old hooker stated that success is only achievable if they put in the necessary effort. He urged rugby fans to come out and support the newly revamped Flying Fijians.

Ikanivere expressed his gratitude for being chosen as captain, feeling honored to contribute positively to the team. He anticipates a challenging game against Samoa but believes in the team’s potential. Despite being relatively young, he noted that the presence of numerous leaders within the squad makes leadership roles easier, as players are responsible for their own performance.

Following two intense training sessions, Ikanivere announced that their goal is to secure a win in their first PNC match. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm.
