Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne has announced that there are no significant injuries within the team as they prepare for the highly anticipated Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan this Saturday. Byrne reassured fans that the squad is in excellent condition as they aim to defend their title.
“We have a few minor issues typical for the third week of training, but everyone has been participating and is ready to compete,” Byrne said.
Making effective tackles will be essential against the host nation, which will benefit from home crowd support. Japan is renowned for its speed and fluid play, prompting the Fijians to strategize on how to counter their pace with physicality.
“We are aware of their speed around the corners, and that’s something we are preparing for,” Byrne noted.
Byrne also emphasized the key strengths of the Flying Fijians. “We know we carry the ball effectively and are a physically strong team. Our scrum and line-out are robust, and we plan to leverage these strengths to offset their speed with our physicality.”
