The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are set to compete in the 2024 Pacific Nations Cup without several key players, paving the way for six new talents to join the squad.
Prominent players such as Waisea Nayacalevu, Semi Radradra, Levani Botia, Peniasi Dakuwaqa, and Josua Tuisova will not be part of the lineup this year.
Head Coach Mick Byrne has communicated with the young athletes, stressing the need for authenticity as they step into their roles.
“The message to all our young players is to enjoy the selection and be who they are. They don’t have to come in and do anything special now that they’ve joined the Flying Fijians,” Byrne stated.
He also noted that while the newcomers are expected to inject energy into the team, it’s essential for them to remain calm and refrain from excessive pressure to excel.
