Flying Fijians’ Heartwarming Village Visit Ahead of Key Match

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians team recently engaged with the local community in Sikituru village, Nadi, thanks to their sponsors, FIJI Water and Fiji Airways. The team was warmly welcomed with a traditional Fijian lovo during their visit on Tuesday.

Head coach Mick Byrne expressed his appreciation for the experience, stating, “It was awesome to go to Sikituru village. The boys really enjoyed the Fijian food, and it was great to be back in the village. The looks on the kids’ faces were priceless; it made the visit very special for all of us.”

Captain Tevita Ikanivere also shared his gratitude for the opportunity to connect with the grassroots community. He thanked FIJI Water and Fiji Airways, along with the coaching staff, for facilitating the visit. “It was great to see so many children during the school holidays and to experience the hospitality of the villagers who prepared a wonderful lovo for us. We truly appreciate the warm welcome,” he remarked.

The team is currently preparing for their upcoming Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga next week, scheduled for 3pm next Friday, as they aim for a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. Fiji holds the title of defending champion in the competition.
