Flying Fijians Gear Up for Tough Tonga Clash!

Fiji’s Flying Fijians kicking coach, Seremaia Bai, emphasizes the significance of physical readiness and team cohesion following their victory over Samoa in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup.

The team is now preparing to face the Ikale Tahi in Tonga on September 6. Following their encouraging win against Samoa, the Flying Fijians are focusing on the next challenge that awaits them.

“We started off well against Samoa with just a few days of preparations. We know that Samoa, like Tonga, will bring physicality,” Bai stated. He pointed out the team’s fresh lineup, which includes several young players eager to showcase their talent on the international level.

“There have been many changes in the team, with a lot of young players. We have two excellent fly-halves, Frank Lomani and Caleb Muntz, both of whom are world-class, along with other potential players,” Bai explained.

The combination of local Drua players and those based overseas is showing promising results, as Bai mentioned the growing chemistry and teamwork within the squad. “The boys have started to gel well together, including both Drua and overseas-based players,” he said.

Bai acknowledged that while all teams are working to improve, the immediate focus is on Tonga. He noted the upcoming match will be challenging, but once it is over, they can shift their attention to Japan.

As the Flying Fijians advance in their Pacific Nations Cup campaign, they are determined to keep their momentum and refine their strategies against a strong Tongan team. The match against Tonga is scheduled for next Friday at 3 PM.
