Flying Fijians Gear Up for Tonga Showdown: A Tough Test Ahead!

Fiji Water Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere has highlighted the team’s commitment to enhancing their performance following their recent match against Samoa. As they gear up for their next challenge in the Pacific Nations Cup against Tonga, scheduled for September 6, Ikanivere has shared insights into their preparation strategy.

Ikanivere stated that the team plans to analyze Tonga’s game this Friday. He mentioned, “This week we are focused on improving our fitness and tempo while addressing the mistakes we made last week before facing Tonga.”

Reflecting on the game against Samoa, he pointed out specific areas needing improvement. “Last week Samoa tested us around the ruck, and while we managed to get through, we need to work on our consistency and ensure we bring physicality and hard work from the start,” he said.

Ikanivere acknowledged the significant challenge of playing away in Tonga. He emphasized the importance of rigorous training to ensure the team is well-prepared, stating, “It’s always challenging to compete in an away match in Tonga.”

The Flying Fijians will face Tonga at 3 PM next Friday, while Samoa will host Tonga at 4 PM tomorrow.
