Fiji Water Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere highlighted the team’s commitment to enhance their performance following their recent match against Samoa as they gear up for their second Pacific Nations Cup clash against Tonga next week.
The Flying Fijians are set to face Tonga on September 6, and Ikanivere has shared insights into their strategy for the upcoming game.
“We will watch Tonga’s game this Friday,” Ikanivere stated. “This week, we are focusing on improving our fitness and tempo while addressing the mistakes we made last week before facing Tonga.”
Reflecting on the match against Samoa, he pointed out specific areas for improvement. “Last week, Samoa tested us around the ruck, but we managed to get through. Our focus is on maintaining consistency and ensuring we bring physicality and hard work from the start.”
Ikanivere acknowledged the difficulty of playing an away match in Tonga. “It’s always a challenge to play an away match in Tonga. That is why we are training very hard to prepare thoroughly for the game.”
Fiji will take on Tonga at 3 PM next Friday, while Samoa is scheduled to host Tonga at 4 PM tomorrow.
