The Flying Fijians are focusing on defence and discipline as they prepare to face Samoa in the Pacific Nations Cup opener today at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Team captain Tevita Ikanivere emphasized the importance of staying alert throughout the match.

He stated, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.” Ikanivere encouraged rugby fans to come out in strong support for the revamped Flying Fijians squad.

“I’m up for the challenge, and I thank God for selecting me as captain,” he added. Expecting a challenging match against Samoa, Ikanivere noted that while the team is young, there are many leaders who make his job easier both on and off the field.

After completing two rigorous training sessions, Ikanivere expressed the team’s goal of securing their first win in the Pacific Nations Cup. The match is set to begin at 6 PM.
