The Flying Fijians are focusing on defense and discipline as they prepare for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today. Captain Tevita Ikanivere emphasized the importance of maintaining focus throughout the match.
“There is a saying that we are only good enough if we do the work,” Ikanivere remarked. He encouraged rugby fans to come out in support of the revamped Flying Fijians team.
“I’m ready for the challenge, and I thank God for selecting me as captain to fulfill this role,” he added. Ikanivere anticipates a challenging game against Samoa, highlighting the team’s youthful energy combined with strong leadership, which he believes eases his responsibilities both on and off the field.
After two intensive training sessions, the team is aiming for victory in their inaugural PNC match, which kicks off at 6 pm.
