Defense and discipline are major priorities for the Flying Fijians as they prepare for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Captain Tevita Ikanivere emphasized the importance of staying focused throughout the match. The 24-year-old hooker stated, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.”
Ikanivere has urged rugby fans to come out and support the revamped Flying Fijians. “I’m up for the challenge and I thank God for picking me as captain to do his work on earth,” he expressed.
He anticipates a tough battle against the Samoan team and noted, “We are a young team but there are lots of leaders, which makes my job easier both on and off the field because everyone takes care of themselves.”
Following two rigorous training sessions, Ikanivere revealed that the team is aiming for victory in their first PNC match. The kickoff for the match is scheduled for 6 PM.
