Olympic silver medalist Ponipate Loganimasi is set to make his full debut for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in their opening match against Scotland during their Europe Tour, scheduled for Sunday. Loganimasi, who previously showcased his skills by scoring two tries while coming off the bench in Fiji’s victory over Japan at the Pacific Nations Cup, will take his place on the left wing.

Joining him in the reserves are the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua backline duo, Kemueli Valetini and Waqa Nalaga, who are also poised to make their debuts. Coach Mick Byrne has assembled a formidable starting lineup, featuring Haereiti Hetet, Captain Tevita Ikanivere, and Samuela Tawake leading the front row. Isoa Nasilasila and Ratu Leone Rotuisolia are positioned as locks, while Ratu Meli Derenalagi and Kitione Salawa will serve as the blindside and openside flankers, respectively. Elia Canakaivata will take on the Number 8 role.

The halves will be managed by Frank Lomani and Caleb Muntz, with Loganimasi and Vuate Karawalevu bringing their speed to the flanks. In midfield, Inia Tabuavou and Apisalome Vota will partner, while young talent Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula features at fullback. The bench further includes Mesulame Dolokoto, Livai Natave, Jone Koroiduadua, Mesake Vocevoce, Vilive Miramira, and Simi Kuruvoli, as they join Nalaga and Valetini in the reserves.

The match is scheduled to take place at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, at 5:40 AM on Sunday, marking a significant moment for the Flying Fijians as they look to build momentum ahead of their European challenges.

This game not only presents an opportunity for the debutants to shine but also strengthens Fiji’s rugby presence on the international stage. Fans will be eagerly anticipating the team’s performance and hoping for an exhilarating match.
