The November Test matches represent a crucial phase for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Head coach Mick Byrne shared these insights during an interview prior to the team’s departure from the country.

Byrne emphasized that the current squad includes several veteran players who are nearing the end of their careers, with some having participated in three World Cups. “Their legacy should be upheld in this regard,” he noted, acknowledging their contributions to the sport.

He indicated that this period is ideal for introducing new talent, aligning with their preparations for the upcoming World Cup. “We finished the Pacific Nations Cup on a high, and it’s essential to conclude the year positively as well.”

The Flying Fijians will take on four Test matches in this international program, three of which are against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Byrne pointed out that players based in Europe performed well over the previous weekend, while those from the local Fijian Drua squad have been actively engaged in off-season training.

The tour will commence with a Test match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. The team will then travel to Cardiff to face Wales on November 10, followed by a match against Spain on November 17, and concluding with a Test against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

In another update, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match are sold out.
