The November Test matches represent a crucial stage for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This was emphasized by head coach Mick Byrne in an interview prior to the team’s departure from the country.

Byrne acknowledged that the current squad includes several veteran players who are nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have participated in three World Cups, and their legacy deserves to be honored,” he stated. He stressed the importance of transitioning to quality replacements during this time, aligning with their long-term preparations for the upcoming World Cup.

“We concluded the Pacific Nations Cup on a positive note, and it’s important to end the year on a high as well,” Byrne added. He noted that the squad’s international program includes four Test matches, with three of them against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

The coach highlighted the strong performances of Europe-based players during the previous weekend, while local players from the Fijian Drua have actively engaged in their off-season training.

The Flying Fijians will begin their tour with a Test against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. Following that, they will play Wales in Cardiff on November 10, face Spain on November 17, and conclude with a match against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

Additionally, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match have sold out.
