Flying Fijians Gear Up for Intense Showdown Against Samoa

Defence and discipline are crucial focuses for the Flying Fijians as they prepare for their opening match against Samoa in the Pacific Nations Cup today at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This sentiment was expressed by the team captain, Tevita Ikanivere, during a media briefing.

The 24-year-old hooker emphasized the importance of being alert throughout the game, quoting, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.” He encouraged rugby fans to come out and support the refreshed Flying Fijians team.

Ikanivere expressed gratitude for being chosen as captain, saying, “I’m up for the challenge and I thank God for picking me to do his work on earth.” He anticipates a tough match against Samoa and acknowledges the youthfulness of the team; however, he believes there are many leaders within the squad, which helps ease his responsibilities both on and off the field.

After rigorous training sessions, Ikanivere stated that the team is aiming for victory in their first Pacific Nations Cup match. The game is set to commence at 6 PM.
