Flying Fijians Gear Up for Epic Samoa Showdown

Defence and discipline are major priorities for the Flying Fijians as they prepare to face Samoa in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This was emphasized by the team’s captain, Tevita Ikanivere, who expressed the need for the players to maintain focus throughout the game.

The 24-year-old hooker remarked that diligence is essential, stating, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.” He encouraged fans to turn out in large numbers to support the refreshed Flying Fijians squad.

Ikanivere also expressed his gratitude for being chosen as captain, stating, “I’m up for the challenge and I thank God for picking me to do his work on earth.” He anticipates a tough match against the Samoans, highlighting the youthful nature of the team but noting that it is filled with leaders, which eases his responsibilities both on and off the field.

Following two rigorous training sessions, Ikanivere confirmed their objective to secure a victory in their first Pacific Nations Cup match. The game is set to begin at 6 PM.
