Flying Fijians Gear Up for Epic Clash Against Samoa

The Flying Fijians are focusing on improving their defence and maintaining discipline as they prepare for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today. This was emphasized by captain Tevita Ikanivere during a press conference.

At just 24 years old, the hooker stressed the importance of staying activated throughout the match, stating, “There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work.” He has encouraged rugby fans to come out and support the revamped Flying Fijians team.

Ikanivere expressed his readiness for the challenge, saying he is grateful to God for his appointment as captain. He anticipates a tough battle against the Samoans but is confident in his team’s capabilities.

“We are a young team, but there are numerous leaders within the squad, making my role easier both on and off the field as everyone holds themselves accountable,” he noted.

After intense training sessions, Ikanivere mentioned the team’s goal is to secure victory in their first match of the Pacific Nations Cup, which kicks off at 6 PM.
