Flying Fijians Gear Up for a High-Stakes Clash Against Samoa!

Clarity is crucial for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for their Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup match against Samoa on Friday. The team gathered in camp in Suva on Saturday, underwent an induction, attended a church service on Sunday, and began training on Monday.

Head coach Mick Byrne noted that all the selected players reported for duty, with several in excellent condition after the All Blacks Test in July. During their first rigorous training session, Byrne emphasized the importance of the team being aligned in their objectives and strategies for the Pacific Nations Cup.

“Like everything in life, if you’re 100 percent sure of what you’re doing, you can move full speed ahead; you need to be wholly committed,” said Byrne. “However, if you’re uncertain about your actions, hesitation can occur. Our primary goal in the limited time we have is to achieve clarity, ensuring everyone knows what needs to be done.”

Byrne affirmed that Monday’s training was productive, with players clearly understanding their individual roles. “We trained with intensity and physicality; all roles were fulfilled, and everyone was in a positive state. This reflects the hard work of the team since Saturday night, when the game plans were distributed, leading up to yesterday’s training session,” he added.

The team also carried out their itatau ritual yesterday, with the captain’s run scheduled for tomorrow. The match against Samoa will take place at 6 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, marking the only game held on Fijian territory this year.
