The November Test matches are a crucial opportunity for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. This was the takeaway from head coach Mick Byrne’s comments before the team departed from the country yesterday.

Byrne noted that the current roster includes several seasoned players who are nearing the end of their careers. “Some of them have participated in three World Cups, and their legacy should be honored,” he expressed. He emphasized that this is the perfect moment to integrate new talent into the team to align with their World Cup preparations.

The coach stated that the team concluded the Pacific Nations Cup on a positive note and aims to maintain that momentum as the year wraps up. He highlighted that they will participate in an international schedule featuring four Test matches, three of which will be against Six Nations teams: Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

Byrne remarked that players based in Europe demonstrated strong performances last weekend, while the Fijian Drua members training locally have also been actively engaged during their off-season.

The Flying Fijians will kick off their tour with a match against Scotland at Murrayfield on November 3. They will then face Wales in Cardiff on November 10, followed by a Test against Spain on November 17, concluding with a match against Ireland in Dublin on November 24.

Additionally, Scotland Rugby has announced that tickets for the Scotland-Fiji Test match are sold out.
