The FIJI Water Flying Fijians team has been actively engaging with the local community, thanks to the support from sponsors FIJI Water and Fiji Airways. Recently, the team visited Sikituru village in Nadi, where they were greeted with a traditional Fijian lovo meal.
Head coach Mick Byrne expressed his enthusiasm about the visit, stating, “It was awesome to go to Sikituru village. The boys really enjoyed the Fijian food, and it was great to be back in the village. The looks on the kids’ faces were priceless; it made the visit very special for all of us.”
Team captain Tevita Ikanivere also expressed appreciation for the chance to connect with the local community. He thanked FIJI Water and Fiji Airways, along with the coaching staff, for the opportunity. “It was great to see so many children during the school holidays and to experience the hospitality of the villagers who prepared a wonderful lovo for us. We truly appreciate the warm welcome,” he noted.
The Flying Fijians are currently preparing for their Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga, scheduled for next Friday at 3 PM, where they will compete for a spot in the semi-finals. Fiji is the defending champion of this tournament.
