Flying Fijians Connect with Community Ahead of Big Match

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians team engaged with the local community recently, thanks to the support from sponsors FIJI Water and Fiji Airways. The team visited Sikituru village in Nadi on Tuesday, where they received a warm welcome that included a traditional Fijian lovo feast.

Head coach Mick Byrne expressed his delight about the visit, stating, “It was awesome to go to Sikituru village. The boys really enjoyed the Fijian food, and it was great to be back in the village. The looks on the kids’ faces were priceless; it made the visit very special for all of us.”

Captain Tevita Ikanivere also shared his appreciation for the opportunity to connect with the grassroots community. He thanked FIJI Water and Fiji Airways for making this visit possible and recognized the warmth of the villagers who prepared the lovo. “It was great to see so many children during the school holidays and to experience the hospitality of the villagers. We truly appreciate the warm welcome,” he added.

As they prepare for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga next week, the Flying Fijians are focused on securing a place in the semi-finals. The match is scheduled for 3 PM next Friday, with Fiji being the defending champion of the tournament.
