BA Town experienced significant disruption yesterday morning when the Ba River overflowed, leading to extensive flooding that affected roads and bridges, compelling residents to suspend their daily routines.
Notably impacted was the Rarawai FSC Mill Road and its bridge, which were submerged under rising waters. Eyewitnesses reported individuals navigating through knee-deep water as they sought safe passage home.
Litiana Lebaivalu, a local resident, recounted her ordeal, stating, “I went to work this morning, but I’m heading back home now,” as she treaded carefully along the submerged FSC bridge.
The flooding not only hindered the workforce but also stalled business operations and travel throughout Ba Town. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and refrain from unnecessary travel while authorities work to assess the damage caused by the flooding.
To ensure public safety, police officers have been deployed to monitor the situation in the town. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu has urged everyone to prepare for possible further challenges as flooding reports continue to surface.
In times like these, it’s crucial for communities to remain united and assist one another in overcoming such adversities. With collective efforts and a resilient spirit, Ba Town can recover and rebuild, showcasing the strength of its residents in the face of natural challenges.
