Several rural roads in Fiji’s Central and Northern Divisions are currently closed due to flooding, prompting local authorities to urge travelers to exercise extreme caution and adhere to all road closure instructions.
In the Central Division, significant flooding has impacted key routes, including Savu Road in Naitasiri, as well as Viria Village, Vatulili, and Navulokani roads, which are facing flooded crossings. Nabukaluka Delailasakau Road is also experiencing severe difficulties, facing issues such as a landslide, washouts, and additional flooding.
The Northern Division is not spared, with Coqeloa Road having a flooded crossing at Qelemumu, and Vunivutu Road also affected by rising water levels. Other impacted routes in this area include Boubale Road at Qawa Crossing, Sevaci Korotasere Road at Nayagalevu Crossing, Dreketilailai Road at Konasami Crossing, and Vuniyalayala Road at Vuniyalayala Crossing.
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is actively monitoring these conditions and is committed to providing updates as necessary. The organization’s ongoing vigilance reflects a strong dedication to public safety during adverse weather conditions.
The current situation underscores the community’s resilience and the FRA’s proactive approach to ensuring roadway safety. While these closures present challenges, there is hope that conditions will improve as efforts continue to address the impacted areas, ultimately restoring safe travel routes. In times like these, it is essential for residents to stay informed and vigilant, ensuring their safety and that of their neighbors.
