Numerous rural roads in Fiji’s Central and Northern Divisions are currently closed due to significant flooding, prompting travelers to proceed with caution and respect all road closure notices.
In the Central Division, several routes are affected, including Savu Road in Naitasiri, which is experiencing flooding. Other roads such as those in Viria Village, Vatulili, and Navulokani are also facing flooded crossings. Nabukaluka Delailasakau Road has additionally suffered from a landslide and washout crossings, making travel hazardous.
In the Northern Division, Coqeloa Road has a flooded crossing at Qelemumu, and Vunivutu Road is also impacted by floodwaters. Other roads facing difficulties include Boubale Road, Sevaci Korotasere Road, Dreketilailai Road, and Vuniyalayala Road, each experiencing issues with flooded crossings.
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is closely monitoring the situation and will issue updates as needed.
While these closures may pose challenges to travel in the affected areas, the vigilance of the FRA demonstrates a proactive approach to ensure public safety. As conditions improve, the community can look forward to the reopening of these important routes.
