Emergency operations centres in the Western Division of Fiji will continue their operations as the Fiji Meteorological Service has forecasted ongoing rainfall throughout the weekend. Divisional Commissioner Western, Apolosi Lewaqai, has urged the public to take necessary precautionary measures given the possibility of persistent rain.

In response to the flooding that affected many earlier this week, food rations have been successfully distributed to 61 families currently residing in evacuation centres located at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office. These efforts are part of a broader support initiative, with various faith-based organizations, non-governmental bodies, businesses, and the Ministry of Health contributing donations of cooked meals, bottled water, food rations, and hygiene kits to assist those in need.

For anyone requiring assistance, please reach out to the following contacts:
– Commissioner Western’s Office: 6664946
– Commissioner Western’s Direct Line: 9937346
– Nearest Police Station: Please contact your local station for emergencies.

This concerted effort from the community and local authorities highlights the resilience and solidarity of the people in the face of adversity. Continued support for those affected will hopefully encourage recovery and rebuild lives during this challenging time.
