Several rural roads in Fiji’s Central and Northern Divisions are currently closed due to extensive flooding. Authorities are cautioning travelers to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to all road closure advisories to ensure safety.

In the Central Division, key impacted routes include Savu Road in Naitasiri, which is experiencing significant flooding, as well as roads leading to Viria Village, Vatulili, and Navulokani, all of which have flooded crossings. Notably, Nabukaluka Delailasakau Road is facing severe disruptions due to a landslide, as well as washout and flooded crossings.

The Northern Division is similarly affected, with Coqeloa Road having a flooded crossing at Qelemumu and Vunivutu Road also facing floodwaters. Additionally, other routes notably impacted include Boubale Road at Qawa Crossing, Sevaci Korotasere Road at Nayagalevu Crossing, Dreketilailai Road at Konasami Crossing, and Vuniyalayala Road at Vuniyalayala Crossing.

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is actively monitoring these conditions and will provide updates as necessary. Their commitment to keeping the public informed and safe during this challenging situation underscores the importance of infrastructure management and community support.

While these road closures present significant challenges, it is encouraging to see the FRA’s proactive measures aimed at protecting public safety and addressing roadway issues. As conditions improve, there is hope for the reopening of these vital connections for the community, highlighting resilience during adverse weather events.
