Residents in areas such as Ba, Lautoka, and Tavua are grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall last night. Many families in low-lying regions have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the rising waters, seeking shelter in safer locations.

In a positive development, Apolosi Lewaqai, the Divisional Commissioner Western for Police, reported that the flood waters are beginning to recede. He noted that some families are already relocating back to their homes or evacuation centers, indicating a gradual return to normal conditions. Lewaqai mentioned receiving a call from a stranded family in Ba who has since been relocated to a safe center.

Authorities are focusing on assisting families and businesses in their recovery efforts. Lewaqai is optimistic that residents will soon resume their daily activities and that the community will bounce back from this setback.

Amid the challenges posed by the flooding, the resilience and support within the community stand out as a beacon of hope for the affected families. With the waters receding, there is a sense of optimism that recovery will be swift, allowing residents to rebuild and return to their normal lives.
