A flash flood warning is currently in effect for low-lying, flood-prone areas and small streams across the Western and Northern divisions of Fiji. Additionally, a flash flood alert has been issued for similar regions in the central eastern division.

The Nadi weather office reports that an active trough of low pressure, bringing clouds and rain, continues to linger over the northeastern parts of Fiji and is expected to impact the region until Monday. Furthermore, another trough of low pressure is predicted to approach and affect the group starting tomorrow.

The Fiji Meteorological Service warns that flooding is likely in drainages, small streams, roads, properties, and low-lying areas. Many low-lying regions, including Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki, are still experiencing significant water levels.

It’s crucial for residents in these areas to remain vigilant and prepared for potential flooding. Authorities are likely monitoring the situation closely to ensure safety and provide updates as needed. The community’s collective resilience will be vital during this challenging time, and sharing resources and information can help mitigate risks associated with flooding.

In summary, Fiji faces ongoing weather challenges with flash flood warnings and alerts as an active low-pressure system continues to affect the region, urging residents to stay informed and prepared.
