Police investigations are actively ongoing regarding allegations of drug trafficking involving several flight attendants. This comes in light of previous cases that remain under examination. Notably, back in 2019, a flight attendant was detained by the High Court in Lautoka on suspicions of facilitating the export of over two kilograms of cocaine and other illegal drugs while working for Fiji Airways.

The troubling allegations included the trafficking of two parcels containing illicit substances. Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, stated that while there have been no new reports, the investigations into prior incidents continue to be a focus for law enforcement. “We had cases in the past, and should new information come to light, we will explore those leads,” Mr. Fong Chew remarked.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as part of a broader initiative aimed at preventing airline personnel from engaging in unlawful practices. This vigilance serves as a crucial step in maintaining the integrity of the aviation sector.

This ongoing investigation highlights the commitment of law enforcement to address and combat drug trafficking within the airline industry. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and accountability in ensuring safety and legality within aviation operations.
