Weather Update
Greetings, fellow weather watchers! Grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats because Mother Nature is throwing quite a shindig over Fiji!
The good news is that the heavy rain alert for our friends in the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti groups has been lifted, so you can put away your wellies – for now. However, don’t retire that umbrella just yet, as a flash flood alert remains in effect for the entire Fiji group. So, while the heavy rain has decided to take a break, it seems the showers have invited themselves over for an extended stay!
What’s causing all this weather commotion? A stubborn trough of low pressure is hanging around, kind of like that relative who overstays their welcome. Expect cloud and showers to be the main guests for the next day or so.
Here’s what you can look forward to until midnight tomorrow: grab yourself a cozy spot because it’ll be showering like the heavens are auditioning for a reality show. Occasional showers, some of which may be heavy, will grace the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti groups, as well as eastern Viti Levu. For the rest of Fiji, expect partly cloudy skies with an occasional drop of rain – or, who knows, maybe a spontaneous thunderstorm or two.
Things could get a bit exercise-induced for those in low-lying areas, as persistent heavy showers might lead to flash flooding similar to a surprise water park. Winds are going to be moderate to fresh, bringing a gusty atmosphere in areas prone to the drama of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Seas will be moderate to rough, so if you’re a sea creature, it might be a bit of a bumpy ride!
Looking ahead to Friday, the party continues with occasional rain and the usual cast of heavy falls and thunderstorms popping up in the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. For the rest of us, expect those pesky afternoon or evening thunderstorms to make an appearance.
