A flash flood alert is currently in effect for northern regions of Viti Levu, specifically from Lautoka to Ba, as well as the interior areas, including Ra and Naitasiri. The alert also extends to the Northern Division of Fiji.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a trough of low pressure is influencing the weather patterns in these northern regions, bringing significant cloud cover and rainfall. This could lead to isolated heavy downpours, creating the potential for flooding in drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads, and low-lying properties.

In light of the adverse weather conditions, motorists are strongly advised to be cautious, steering clear of flooded roads and avoiding attempts to cross any flooded waterways. Members of the public are also encouraged to stay vigilant and to regularly check official weather updates to stay informed on the evolving situation.

While the weather poses challenges, there is hope that communities will come together to support one another through these difficulties, reinforcing the resilience that is often seen in the face of natural calamities.
