Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro recently commended 284 cadets from Naitasiri Secondary School for their exemplary discipline, teamwork, and perseverance during their passing-out parade held yesterday. The parade showcased the culmination of five weeks of intensive cadet training and marked the school’s third consecutive year in the program.
Mr. Radrodro, a native of Naitasiri, stated that the cadet program has become an integral part of the school’s identity, helping to cultivate confident and responsible young individuals who embody the values of service, respect, and excellence in their everyday lives. He emphasized, “True leadership is earned through discipline and teamwork,” while encouraging the cadets to apply the teachings learned beyond the parade grounds.
The Minister acknowledged the crucial support provided by the Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Navy, educators, parents, and the school cadets committee. Their collaboration with the Ministry of Education plays a vital role in nurturing future leaders.
In addition to recognizing the cadets, Mr. Radrodro also addressed the senior students preparing for external examinations. He urged them to plan for their tertiary education, explore scholarship opportunities, and maintain focus on their aspirations.
This event resonates with a recent passing-out parade hosted by Lomary Secondary School, which also emphasized the importance of discipline and leadership among students. Minister Radrodro has consistently highlighted that cadet training not only develops individual skills in decision-making and teamwork but also addresses broader social issues, fostering a generation of resilient young leaders.
The recent activities across various schools, including Levuka Public School and Suva Grammar School, reflect a strong commitment to character building and instilling essential life skills through cadet training. This collective effort across educational institutions aims to shape well-rounded individuals poised to tackle future challenges and contribute positively to their communities. The enduring values learned in these programs provide hope for nurturing responsible citizens, paving the way for a brighter future for Fiji.
