A man is facing charges of bribery following an incident during a traffic stop yesterday morning. The event took place on February 12th at the Matanikorovatu traffic lights, where the suspect reportedly failed to stop when directed, nearly colliding with a police officer managing traffic.

After being pursued by the officer, the driver was eventually stopped and asked to present his driver’s license. In a bid to influence the officer, he allegedly slipped a folded $5 note underneath his license while urging the officer to accept the money.

Law enforcement officials swiftly arrested the suspect, who now faces an additional charge of bribery. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the matter is ongoing, emphasizing their commitment to upholding integrity and discouraging illicit conduct. This incident highlights the important role that police play in ensuring public safety and the legal consequences of attempting to undermine that authority.
